Walking Harness FAQs
How do I clean the Ultra Paws harness?
Care of Ultra Paws harnesses is simple. Just machine wash in cold water and hang to dry.
Why do I have more control of my dog with the Walking harness?
With a leash attached to your dog’s collar you have control of their neck. If you use the padded Walking harness your leash is attached at the back of the harness. When you pull back on your leash it pulls back on the harness and in turn, puts pressure on the neck and chest area padding and it spreads the pressure across the front of the dog, making it difficult for them to move forward.
How do I adjust the side straps of the harness?
Adjustment of the side straps is easy. Just slide the webbing through the buckle and secure the straps. We include extra webbing on the straps so that you can adjust them to fit your dog. Once you’ve fit your dog to the harness, mark the webbing at 1-2” beyond the buckle and take the harness off the dog. Cut off the excess strap at your mark and seal the edge of the webbing with a lighter to melt the webbing fibers (keep your fingers away from the webbing until it cools).
How strong are the Acetal side release buckles?
We’ve tried other buckles and Acetal is the strongest plastic on the market today. It’s also the most expensive buckle we’ve found, but we think you deserve the best we can provide.
What is it about the design of the Walking harness that inhibits the dog from pulling?
The Escape Artist harness, because of its short length and triangular neck design pulls at the dog's neck when a leash is attached to the D-Ring. This pressure at the neck discourages the dog from pulling and gives more control. The belly strap tightens around the dog's middle when they pull, making it uncomfortable for them and most dogs quickly learn to stop pulling.
